On the evening of Maundy Thursday, Jesus and His disciples celebrated their last 
Passover meal together. There, in the Upper Room, Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, teaching them about true servanthood and giving them a new commandment, to love one another, just as He had loved them. Jesus then instituted Holy Communion with the bread (His Body) and the wine (His Blood) that would soon be sacrificed for the forgiveness of the sins of the world. Finally, Jesus prayed for His disciples, and those who would come to faith through them, to be “one,” as He and the Father were “one,” - and to be with Him, and see His glory.
